The massive packaged software market of the 80s and 90s gave way to SaaS in and since the Internet boom ending in 2000 (somewhat). The massive rebuild of a modular ERP suite in SaaS is best exemplified by Workday. Their app is used by thousands of big companies and hence millions clock-in-out daily with their platform. When the world cares about the real time nature their financial platform can bring to SEC reporting/auditing, this company becomes the stickiest of all software that runs companies like communications.
